Journalist says he now expects £60m player to sign for Arsenal in January

Arsenal continue to be linked with a move for Ivan Toney in January. The Brentford striker’s ban is almost over, and upon his return to action.

His first port of call may be to find a move elsewhere.

After a 20-goal season last time around, the England international is certainly worthy of a big move, and Arsenal have been credited with plenty of interest as of late.

Speaking on The Game Football Podcast, The Times’ Tom Roddy has been discussing Toney’s future, and he’s now said that he expects the £60m man to sign for Arsenal in January.

Toney expected to sign for Arsenal

Roddy shared what he knows about Toney and where he might end up.

“Oh yeah, almost certainly, I think January. I think it will happen in January. I would be surprised if he played for Brentford again. My expectation is Arsenal. They have looked at him, there are multiple clubs that have looked at him,

He’s on a list at Chelsea of interest, but you watch Arsenal and they create a lot of chances

They just don’t take them, that’s what they lack, a goalscoring striker,” Roddy said.

As Roddy says, when you watch Arsenal, it’s clear to see that they could do with a clinical striker leading the line, and Toney could well be that gamechanger for the Gunners.

Toney does a lot of work off the ball, but it’s his ability to find the net that makes him such a star.

It sounds as simple as it can be, but goals win games,

If you have a player who can take the majority of his chances leading your line,

You’re winning half the battle already.

Of course, this deal won’t be cheap, with Toney being touted as a £60m player already, but,

These days, you’re not getting a quality striker for less than that.
