Josh Nichols in Arsenal :
After featuring as a substitute against PSV, Nichols’ name was there in the starting lineup away to Lens this week. Despite the defeat, he played much more than his expectations.
Nichols is very tenacious and doesn’t shy away from engaging in duels. The 17-year-old is usually effective at right-back. However, he also possesses experience of operating at left-back. His versatility makes him a useful option for coaches.
Nichols is efficient enough to earn a professional contract. Moreover, the experience he is gaining in the UEFA Youth League will undoubtedly help his overall development.
He has some room for improvement positionally but overall he is developing very well. One potential problem for Nichols in the long term is that he could have to be patient for his chances in the senior team. Michal Rosiak may play at right-back. However, lately Rosiak has often been used in midfield. Nichols is making good progress and he has certainly made Mehmet Ali, who coaches both the U21s and the U19s, aware of his qualities.
oreover, we can ascertain the fact that if he gets time and work hard, he’ll be able to be one of the greats in Arsenal. It will only happen if the club gets hold of him for long and he’ll able to prove himself worthy of being a club legend in future.
