Graham Potter scouting Jordan Pickford at the World Cup

Chelsea

Chelsea manager Graham Potter didn’t have a good start to a managerial career with the blues.

They failed to win a single game since October and now this world cup break is the best time for him to analyze the team.

Graham already seems busy as The Sun reported that Chelsea is scouting Pickford at World Cup as a replacement for Kepa and Mendy.

Kepa has only played 40 times since the 20/21 season with Mendy becoming the number 1.

Is Pickford an upgrade or a downgrade?

Pickford signed for Everton in 2017 and has been the preferred number 1 for toffees since then.

Although from the start of the 20/21 season, he hasn’t had a great form of run like before by only keeping 20 clean sheets in 84 games.

In that same period, Kepa had 19 clean sheets in 40 games.

However, Pickford showed his qualities throughout the time and Everton manager Alan Kelly called him ‘faultless‘ following England’s defeat against Italy in Euro 2020.

If Pickford can somehow bring his international form to Stamford Bridge then he surely can be one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Throughout the Euros, he kept 5 clean sheets and only conceded 2 goals during that competition.

Despite conceding 2 goals against Iran, Pickford still has to face bigger challenges as England are in RO16 and will face Senegal.

If he can give a remarkable performance then he surely will be a demanding player this January window.
