Erik ten Hag wants five signings before the end of the transfer window

About Football Express UK

Manchester United are struggling. New manager Erik ten Hag is desperate to improve his squad. He is intent on bringing in ‘five signings before the end of the transfer window’.

So far, United have only brought in three players. Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, and Lisandro Martinez are the only incoming, despite the number of outgoings earlier this summer.

Edinson Cavani, Lee Grant, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic, Dean Henderson, Andreas Pereira, Alex Telles, and Paul Pogba have all departed on loan or on a permanent basis.

A group of senior Manchester United players have approached the club’s board to urge them to make a few more signings before the end of the window. Cristiano Ronaldo and captain Harry Maguire are reportedly part of this group.

Red devils boss Ten Hag reportedly wants five more signings over the course of the next few weeks. The Dutchman is desperate for improvements after back-to-back losses against Brighton and Brentford.

So who is on Erik Ten Hag’s shopping list?

The former Ajax head coach apparently wants two midfielders, a centre-forward, a winger, and a right-back to arrive at Old Trafford before the deadline.

US International Sergio Dest is allegedly a target for the right-back position.

There have been links between Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech to United, as well as Atletico Madrid’s Matheus Cunha and Alvaro Morata. Leicester’s Jamie Vardy has also been suggested as a target, though he is reaching his twilight years. Cody Gakpo is another name with links to United recently. Ajax’s Antony is another forward linked to United. However, the Dutch giants have no interest in selling him.

Despite chasing his signature all summer, United are reportedly prepared to give up their pursuit of Frenkie de Jong. Their deal with Adrien Rabiot has also broken down, due to reported disagreements over wages. There have been rumors that Real Madrid’s Casemiro may be a potential alternative, though the Brazillian is unlikely to move. There have also been links with Brighton’s Moisés Caicedo.

Manchester United will be hosting Liverpool on Tuesday. The Reds would be eager to end their winless streak, even without Darwin Nunez leading the line.
