Chelsea legend has serious doubts about 22-year-old Chelsea player

Chelsea

Chelsea legend Frank Leboeuf has some doubts about Armando Broja despite his recent impact in the Blues’ first team.

Armando Broja scored in his first Premier League start of the season against Fulham last Monday, but Leboeuf stated on ESPN FC that he is not fully convinced by the striker yet.

Broja was not able to follow up his strike versus Fulham with another goal in Chelsea’s game with Burnley at the weekend, but Mauricio Pochettino’s side were still able to come out as victors.

Goals from Cole Palmer, Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Jackson after Ameen Al-Dakhil turned the ball into his own net inspired the Blues to a 4-1 win at Turf Moor.

Chelsea manager Pochettino is showing a lot of faith in Broja right now, but Leboeuf has his doubts about the 22-year-old.

Frank Leboeuf not convinced by Chelsea striker Armando Broja

Speaking about Chelsea forward options, the World Cup winner said: “I pray for [Christopher] Nkunku to come back very, very soon because Broja, I’m not convinced yet. And he comes back from injury, so it takes time.

“Jackson, yeah, he’s getting better. But what I saw from Nkunku for several years, that will make a frontline very competitive.”

Chelsea striker Armando Broja doing a good job

Considering that Broja has just come back from a serious injury, we think he has done well in the few appearances he has managed to make this season.

Nevertheless, Leboeuf’s concerns are understandable. The Albania international has not been playing senior football for too long, so the jury is still out.

For where Chelsea are trying to get to, they need proven quality. It is why it would not be a surprise to see the club make a move for someone like Brentford’s Ivan Toney in January.

Until then, though, Broja and Jackson have the chance to show that they can be the No.9 the Blues need in order to be successful again.
