Arsenal interest in Uruguayan winger Facundo Torres confirmed by Agent

Arsenal have enjoyed a brilliant start to the season. They are on top of the league, with ten wins and a draw from 12 games. They continued their fantastic run of form with a strong 5-0 home victory over Nottingham Forest.

However, that triumph was marred by a single blot. During the first half, star winger Bukayo Saka had to be carried off due to injuries in his foot and ankle. The Arsenal medical staff have strong optimism that he will be available for Sunday’s fixture against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The English youngster has been significant in Arsenal’s recent form, having five goals and five assists in all competitions so far.

Saka was replaced by fellow Youth academy product Reiss Nelson. Nelson provided a strong performance with a brace and an assist. However, reportedly Arsenal are already preparing to sign a winger to bolster their ranks. They made attempts to secure Pedro Neto in the summer but were rebuffed by Wolves.

Now, Arsenal’s interest in Uruguayan winger Facundo Torres has been confirmed by his agent.

Who is Facundo Torres?

The 22-year-old Uruguayan Winger currently plays for Orlando City in the MLS. He has been one of the MLS’ best players this season so far. Torres is known for his playmaking and goalscoring abilities. He has had 13 goals and 10 assists so far in the MLS. Most notably, he also scored against Arsenal in a friendly during pre-season.

Some reports say that Torres’ representatives are likely to meet with Arsenal this week. Agent Edgardo Lasilva has confirmed that “there is nothing advanced” but there was some interest from the Arsenal chiefs. Lasilva also confirmed a meeting with Arsenal scout Toni Lima.

Edgardo Lasilva also represents Manchester United’s Facundo Pellistri. The Uruguayan has been struggling to break into Erik ten Hag’s first team and has expressed his desire for minutes ahead of the World Cup.

I am happy to play again, and now Manchester will have an important string of games, so I also hope to get minutes at the club,”

Pellistri spoke to ESPN.

“Erik ten Hag is a good coach, with a very clear idea; I really want to start participating in the team.”

But Lasilva also confirmed that an exit could be likely in the near future.

“I think that with a good World Cup, as we think it will have, his departure is imminent.”
