Manchester City and City Football Group midfielder has left the Etihad side on a permanent deal

The newly bought City Football Group team and the 20-year-old midfielder have agreed to a long-term contract that will keep the latter’s services with EC Bahia through 2027.

Diego Rosa first moved to Manchester City in January 2021, coming from the Brazilian team Gremio on a five-year contract. The contract was signed directly with the Football Group of City.

The midfielder, however, left Manchester City and signed a loan agreement with Lommel S.K. in Belgium for a period of 18 months.

Diego Rosa and his time at City Football Group

It’s interesting to note that at the time, a report by the Belgian publication HBvL claimed that the intention had always been for Diego Rosa to transfer permanently to another City Football Group team as soon as his loan agreement in Belgium ended.

This sends Rosa back to Brazil, where he will be hoping for a chance to reignite a promising career. His career had somewhat plateaued while he was living in Europe.

Diego Rosa will join fellow developing star Kayky, who has joined the club on a season-long loan from Manchester City. EC Bahia’s first permanent additions following their acquisition by the City Football Group.

In a recent loan stint with Pacos de Ferreira in Primeira Liga, the latter failed to demonstrate his actual abilities.

After leaving Fluminense for Manchester City in 2021, Kayky spoke about his upcoming return to Brazil.

“I reached a high level that is football in England and arriving young, having patience to wait.

“We preferred to return to Brazil (with Bahia) to gain confidence and be able to return to Manchester City or follow another path.”
