Everton have shown interest in Harry Winks from Tottenham since January. However, Everton did not make an official bid. Although there are reports that Everton will make an official bid for Winks in the coming days. The reports also claim Winks is open for a move toward Goodison Park.
Journalist Dharmesh Seth had talked about Everton’s interests in signing Harry Winks.
“They’re also trying to sign Harry Winks from Tottenham. But the deal that they’re interested in is a loan with an option [to buy], so they don’t commit big sums of money. It could be a while, I think, before Everton are in that market again when they’re going for those big-name players for big sums of money.”
Everton are looking for a loan move for Winks with an option to buy at the end of the season. Seth also claims this is due to the financial deficiency at Everton. He believes Everton would need at least a couple more seasons before they can buy big players in the transfer market.
What Everton should expect next season
Everton had a terrible season in the recently concluded 2021/22 campaign. Everton were abysmal throughout the season and barely survived relegation. They were awful until December when Frank Lampard came in as a manager. Lampard managed to inspire Everton and get them just over the finish line.
The 2022/23 Premier League season is just a month away with Everton not making any significant progress in the transfer market. Everton are heading towards oblivion unless the whole squad steps. Everton are going to have a hard time in the Premier League this time around. Moreover, Everton lost their best player in Richarlison. Everton is bound to have a hard time in the league. Unless Frank Lampard manages to inspire the squad and make them competitive.
