AS Roma, also known as Associazione Sportiva Roma, is an Italian football club based in Rome. The team was founded in 1927 and has a rich history. Meanwhile, it has seen them become one of the most popular football clubs in Italy.

History

After merging three Roman football clubs, Alba-Audace, Fortitudo-Pro Roma SGS, and Roman, the team formed AS Roma. They played their first competitive game in September 1927 and have since become a regular participant in Serie A. Meanwhile, the team has had a successful run in domestic competitions, with three Serie A titles, nine Coppa Italia trophies, and two Supercoppa Italiana titles won. Additionally, they have a strong European presence, having reached the UEFA Champions League final in 1984, where Liverpool defeated them.

AS Roma has won a total of 15 major trophies in their history, including the Coppa Italia in the 1963-64 season, which they won by defeating Torino in the final. The team also won their first Serie A title in the 1941-42 season, followed by two more titles in 1982-83 and 2000-01. Additionally, they won the Supercoppa Italiana in 2007 by defeating Inter Milan, which remains their most recent trophy.

Rivalries

AS Roma has two main rivalries in Italian football. The first is with Lazio, another Rome-based team. The rivalry between the two teams is known as the Derby della Capitale and is considered one of the most intense rivalries in Italian football. The second rivalry is with Juventus, with whom they have contested several important matches over the years.
