Ryan Gravenberch keen to join United to reunite with his former boss

Erik ten Hag

Ryan Gravenberch, a defensive midfielder for Bayern Munich, reportedly prefers to join Manchester United if he moves on from the Allianz Arena this summer. Since the beginning of the year, there has been much discussion over the Dutchman’s future. This is due to his inability to successfully establish himself as a regular starter throughout his first season in Germany. Under Thomas Tuchel, Gravenberch struggled to be starter in their title race until the last weeks of the campaign. Thus it is still unknown if he intends to remain at the club.

Ryan Gravenberch wants a move to Manchester United

The 21-year-old was an unused substitute during Bayern’s German Super Cup loss to RB Leipzig. The dutchman failed to contribute more than 45 minutes in any of the team’s preseason matches. Gravenberch actually faces more competition now that Konrad Laimer has joined the team and a creative midfielder is likely to drop deeper as a result of Harry Kane’s arrival. Foot Mercato reports that Tuchel is willing to let Gravenberch find a new team in the upcoming weeks, whether it be on a temporary loan term or permanent basis. The relevant parties are supposedly considering their options. Therefore teams like Manchester United and Liverpool are known to be fans of the Dutch international.

According to the report, Gravenberch would like to join Man United if an opportunity arrives before the current transfer window closes. The Red Devils are led by his previous coach Erik ten Hag. However United currently seems to be looking for a more defensive-minded star.

Liverpool set to launch a opening bid for the Dutch midfielder

Liverpool, who missed out on the Chelsea additions of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, finds themselves in a similar situation. Waturu Endo, a Japanese international who will likely have a holding role in the engine room at Anfield, is Jurgen Klopp’s latest signing. It was a wise decision to land the Stuttgart midfielder. However, Liverpool has long been an admirer of Gravenberch for months. They likely to continue to be so until his future becomes clear.

However, Bayern is still in an advantageous position because a player who cost around €23 million has four years left on his deal. Bayern might not let him leave until a big offer arrives. However according to reports, Liverpool ‘intend to bid’ a starting offer £20 million for Ryan Gravenberch. In addition BILD’s report from a week ago stated that Jurgen Klopp is “very confident in Gravenberch,” and the Reds are keen to launch a bid for the former Ajax player.
