Ex-Manchester United Mexican star Hernandez to return to hometown club

About Football Express UK

Manchester United legend Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez is nearing a potential comeback to Chivas Guadalajara. Thus, marking a nostalgic return to the Mexican club after departing for the Premier League giants 14 years ago.

As the metaphorical autumn leaves crunch beneath his feet, Javier Hernandez is now in the concluding phase of his illustrious career. He is embracing the chance to complete a full circle by rejoining the club. That is where he initially gained prominence well over a decade ago.

Having scored 52 goals in 109 international appearances, Hernandez has spent the past three seasons in North America with LA Galaxy. Meanwhile, his contract already finished on New Year’s Day. However, the frontman, born in Guadalajara, now has the opportunity to reunite with his hometown club on a free transfer.

What did Hernandez say regarding return to Chivas?

The Mexican said: “I can’t wait to return to Chivas. This week, my agent will be in Guadalajara. We are making a great effort so that this negotiation can be closed, but nothing is certain.”

Hernandez joined Manchester United as a relatively unknown young player for a modest fee of £7 million. He would go on to become one of the most astute and cost-effective acquisitions of the late-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

Scoring 20 goals in a remarkable debut season in England, Hernandez notably contributed to The Red Devils’ success. With one of his goals swiftly propelling them to a 1-0 lead and on the path to another Premier League title within the first 30 seconds of a memorable victory over Chelsea.
