Manchester United recently sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and have appointed Ralf Rangnick. The German will be the manager for two years with a role in the next managerial decision as well.
However, according to AS, he will also play a major part in the transfer race for Haaland. Erling Haaland has a £63 million clause in his contract which will become active next summer. Real Madrid, Juventus, Barcelona, Manchester City are also other clubs amongst many monitoring him.
In the past when Ralf was with Red Bull as a sporting director he played a key role in bringing Haaland from Molde.
Will the presence of a new striker at Manchester United impact Ronaldo?
Ralf Rangnick is the father of gegenpress. He is known to facilitate a style of high press system with every player who has their backs covered. Jurgen Klopp, who was assistant manager to Ralf, has been using this method successfully.
It is possible that just like Carrick, even Ralf can bench Ronaldo for obvious reasons. Surely Ronaldo even at the age of 37 is a great goalscorer, best in the squad but he can’t run and press like he used to.
The decision of Carrick to bench Ronaldo was not a wise one but luckily they still got the job done against Chelsea. The Blues were not at their best and adding to that Michael instructed his players to play very defensively.
Surely Ralf Rangnick will not bench Ronaldo for the likes of Sancho or Rashford but if a new young striker arrives then things might change.

Whilst a young striker should be played over Ronaldo, no one should disregard his abilities. Cristiano Ronaldo has had an instant impact with Manchester United since the moment he arrived.
Ronaldo scored in vital moments for Manchester United. Though he has not scored against Manchester City/Liverpool/Chelsea, Ronaldo has saved Manchester United thrice.
He scored the last-minute winner against Villarreal and another last-minute goal against Atalanta to secure a point for United. When Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was on the brink of losing his job, Ronaldo and Bruno turned up big time. Ronaldo scored one and assisted one goal against the Spurs.
Manchester United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was inconsistent. As of now, in comparison to Salah and other in-form players, Ronaldo has a lot to cover up. Even the appointment of Ralf Rangnick will initially take some time to settle in.
Whether Ronaldo will even win any trophy with Manchester United is a big question, let alone the Ballon D’or.
