Manchester City is looking to sign Erling Haaland in the summer of 2022.
City, Chelsea, Bayern, Real Madrid and many other clubs are monitoring his situation. Erling has a £64 million release clause in his contract.
According to Norwegian football expert Andreas Korssund, Manchester City are leading the race.
Borussia Dortmund has a reputation for selling talented youngsters and earning a lot of money from it. They have sold many players like Sancho, Dembele and Pulisic for a huge sum. However, they are looking to strengthen their current squad and will try to renew Haaland’s contract.

Both Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe started their professional career in 2015/16. In the past 7 seasons, Mbappe has scored 166 goals for Monaco and PSG. Haaland has scored 115 games for Bryne ,Molde ,Red Bull Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund.
Mbappe has scored 42 goals in his highest season in 2020/21. Erling Haaland scored 44 goals in 2019/20 for Borussia Dortmund.
Haaland had 48 assists overall and had 12( his highest) in 2020/21. Mbappe, on the other hand, edges Haaland and has 80 assists and 17( his highest) in 2018/19.
International comparison
When it comes to comparing countries, Mbappe’s national team (France) is much stronger than Norway. Erling Haaland could have possibly played for England but chose to play for Norway.
Haaland broke through the senior team back when he scored 9 goals in a single game. He has 13 goals and assists in 15 appearances but Mbappe has 33 goals and assists in 48 appearances.
Though France is a strong team, they are not carrying Mbappe and he is key for them. Kylian has won the 2018 World Cup and the 2021 Nations League with Les Bleus. He even scored in the final against Croatia for France.
Erling Haaland on the other hand is yet to win any trophy with Norway.
Though Mbappe and Haaland are the best youngsters in the world right now. Both players have different styles of play, Mbappe is a winger and can play as a striker as well. Haaland is a striker , a poacher like Lewandowski. He is naturally gifted and has great positional awareness. Mbappe’s shooting ability or finishing ability is not as great as Haaland. But Kylian is great in dribbling and creating chances, an area in which Haaland lacks.
