According to reports, Kylian Mbappe has a specific reason for not considering a move to Manchester City. Additionally, earlier this week, it was revealed that the Paris Saint-Germain forward has informed the club that he has no intention of extending his current contract. His contract is to expire in the summer of 2024.
As a result of Kylian Mbappe’s decision not to renew his contract, it appears that Paris Saint-Germain is now considering selling the player during the current summer transfer window. Rather than risk losing him as a free agent next year.
According to a recent report from iNews, City’s absence from Kylian Mbappe’s radar is attributed to a specific reason.
“He speaks perfect English and there are a “number of clubs” he would look at, should the [Real] Madrid move not happen.”
“A source added playing alongside Erling Haaland at Manchester City is not an idea he’d likely entertain. But going up against him in England, in a “battle of the stars”, would.”
What might be the possible destination for Mbappe?
During the previous summer transfer window, the Manchester club secured the signing of Haaland from Borussia Dortmund for a reported fee of £51m. Throughout his debut season with Pep Guardiola’s team, the striker showcased remarkable performance. Thus, scoring an impressive tally of 52 goals in 53 matches. This outstanding contribution played a significant role in Manchester City’s triumphs in the Premier League, FA Cup, and the Champions League.
Meanwhile, Mbappe also have a remarkable scoring record of 212 goals in 260 appearances for PSG. Hence, it is understandable that the prospect of him teaming up with Haaland would be highly enticing. The combination of their goal-scoring prowess could indeed be a tantalizing prospect.
However, the France international prefers to compete against the City star rather than being his teammate. It suggests that Mbappe might not want to play alongside someone who could potentially overshadow him in terms of goal-scoring abilities.
Mbappe has lack of interest in joining City due to Haaland. Hence, it may be reasonable for the club to refrain from pursuing the transfer. Despite his impressive goal-scoring abilities, Mbappe is not showing interest to join the team. Hence, it may be more practical for City to focus on other potential signings.
