Manchester United to let Van de Beek leave very soon

Donny van de Beek

Manchester United has spent £1.25 million for each start that Van de Beek has made during his tenure at the club.

Van de Beek came from Ajax for £35 million in September 2020. Since then, he only made 28 starts. While his career flourished in Amsterdam, it has significantly regressed in Manchester. His absence from each matchday squad this season has gone largely unnoticed.

A departure before the transfer deadline would likely have been beneficial for Van de Beek. It’s evident that Erik ten Hag has firmly conveyed that the player doesn’t fit into his plans, and seems to be below the required level to secure regular starting opportunities at United.

Van de Beek has made efforts to compete for his position, but unfortunately, it hasn’t yielded positive results for him. Over his three-year tenure, there have been four different managers overseeing the player. All of them seem to have arrived at the same conclusion regarding his role within the team.

Should Van de Beek opt for a move away from Manchester United?

Clearly, the Dutchman possesses talent. But it appears to be a situation where the club and the league may not have been the right fit for him. Replicating his performances from the Eredivisie has proven challenging. It’s evident that his stay at Manchester United has extended beyond a point where he’s no longer a welcomed asset.

Van de Beek has not yet been included in a first-team squad this season. It’s indeed disheartening to witness his career take such a significant downturn. His next opportunity for a move won’t come until January, and it would be in his best interest to explore the possibility of a permanent departure for the sake of his future in the sport.

Van de Beek’s prime years in football are still ahead of him. Following a full recovery from injury, he will likely harbor hopes of revitalizing his career. It’s believed that the style of European football could be a better fit for him, and he can look forward to putting his time in England behind him.
