Manchester United plot move for Ajax centre-back

Manchester United

Manchester United are weighing up the possibility of signing Lisandro Martinez from Ajax in the transfer window this summer.

The Red Devils have been linked with yet another Ajax player in the transfer market with Lisandro Martinez as the new target. Manager Erik ten Hag has seen the potential in the centre-back and wants the services of the Ajax defender.

The left-footed centre-back can also adapt to playing in the defensive midfield role. This would be an added advantage to the Red Devils during matches when they would require a solid defence.

United have had a very slow start in the transfer window having made no impact signings just yet. After losing out on Jurrien Timber, the gaffer is heavily invested in Martinez for the defensive role.

United submit a bid for Martinez

Manchester United have submitted an official bid in place for Martinez and the player wants an exit. Martinez has told the Dutch club that he would prefer a move to the English top-flight this summer.

The two parties have agreed on personal terms and it appears as though the centre-back could don the Red Devils outfit next season.

However, Ajax and United have still a lot of paperwork to do and the clubs need to reach an agreement. Moreover, United are desperately hoping that they would be able to pull off this deal as luck hasn’t favored them yet.

The defensive issues endured by the club this season left the club and its fans in great distaste. Manager ten Hag will hope to bolster the defence and build an overall competitive squad ahead of the next season.

The 24-year-old is also tempted to play at the Theatre of Dreams and work under ten Hag in the forthcoming season. All that remains is for the two clubs to sort out the deal and agree on the transfer.
