Manchester United Interest in Watford’s Ismaila Sarr

About Football Express UK

After their recent interest in Bologna’s Marko Arnutovic has cooled down, Manchester United have looked to the Championship to bolster their struggling offence. One of their top potential targets seems to be Watford’s Senegalese winger, Ismaila Sarr.

The Senegalese International has started the season in fine form, with a goal and an assist from the last two matches. Many tout his goal against West Brom as an early contender for the Goal of the Season or the Puskas Award. It was a long shot from close to the halfway line which looped over West Brom’s goalkeeper Button.

Can Ismaila Sarr handle the difficulties of the Top Flight?

Sarr signed for Watford in the year 2019 from the French side Rennes. He has represented the English side on 94 occasions in all competitions. He has bagged 25 goals and 19 assists during this tenure. Of these, 10 goals and eight assists come in the Premier League showing that he can impact the top flight.

Manchester United have been in desperate need of offensive reinforcements. Cristiano Ronaldo‘s future at the club is in question. With Antony Martial injured, new manager Erik Ten Hag is desperate for a forward. Therefore, Sarr’s ability to play in many different attacking positions makes him an attractive prospect.

The Dutch coach has struggled to muster a strong enough squad over the past few months despite several departures. United suffered a humiliating 2-1 loss to Brighton in their first match. Ten Haag would be looking to desperately improve his squad to keep up with the other top English clubs.
