Manchester United discussing personal terms with Adrien Rabiot

Liverpool January

Manchester United are reportedly in discussions with Adrien Rabiot, as United looks to conclude a deal with the Juventus playmaker over personal terms. There has been strong links between United and the Frenchman since the last day. A fee around of £15m, is understood to be agreed upon between the clubs. The fee agreed between the two clubs is understood to be around £15m.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Red Devils are in talks with Rabiot’s agent and mother, Veronique Rabiot, about the salary that the playmaker would receive at United. The French midfielder has been at Turin since 2019, moving to Turin on a free transfer after his contract at PSG ran out. He since then has been a regular for Juventus. During the previous season, Rabiot played 45 matches for Juventus, including 32 in Serie A. But, looks like he isn’t in the manager’s plans for the new campaign. He also made 227 appearances for Paris during his tenure between 2012 and 2019. In that time, he won five Ligue 1 titles, five Coupe-de-la-Ligue crowns, and four Coupe-de-France trophies.

Rabiot has played for the national side in 29 matches. He scored twice, and also was involved in 3 of their 4 UEFA Nations League games back in June.

Rabiot would boost the United midfield

Rabiot’s arrival would improve an area of the field for United that come short in last season. More so when Fred and Scott McTominay have been strongly criticized for their poor performances in Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion. Also, with the deal with Frenkie de Jong seemingly falling apart, the chase for Rabiot looks even more desperate for United. Fixing the attacking combination is also one of the foremost concerns for the head coach Erik ten Hag. But the club have reportedly decided against the transfer of Bologna’s Marko Arnautovic. United were also heavily linked with Benjamin Sesko from Red Bull Salzburg. But seems like the highly-rated youngster will be moving to RB Leipzig next summer.

United forward Anthony Martial was having an impressive run during pre-season. But the Frenchman did not feature against Brighton on Sunday thanks to an injury. His presence remains a doubt for Saturday’s game with Brentford.
