Manchester City transfer round-up

About Football Express UK

Manchester City has been seemingly quiet in the January transfer window with only one signing in the form of Julian Alvares. The Cityzens’ January transfer window didn’t technically go by without the club making a signing. They managed to buy Julian Alvarez from River Plate, although the young forward will return to Argentina as a loanee.

Ferran Torres’ departure left Manchester City short of options. However, the quality in attacking areas seems to be still top-notch. As per reports, Man City might look to consolidate the wing position yet again in the summer transfer window.

Now, let’s dive into the probable arrivals and departures of Man City:

Manchester City arrivals

Manchester City confirmed the signing of Julian Alvares on the transfer deadline day. The 22-year-old forward signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with the Cityzens. However, he would spend the rest of the season on loan at River Plate as per Fabrizio Romano.

The signing seems to be a long-term move and this signing won’t affect Man City’s longing of signing a star forward. However, as per reports, City’s pursuit for Haaland looks deem as the player looks to start his new career in Spain.

As a result, Pep Guardiola is searching for an alternative if the Haaland deal does not go through.

Manchester City departures

The only departure that took place was that of Ferran Torres. Torres signed a 5-year contract with Barcelona until 2027.

On the other hand, Pep Guardiola might see Raheem Sterling out of the Ethiad in the summer. Sterling has 18 months left in his contract and might consider a move elsewhere.

As a result, City may view the summer as the last chance to get a decent fee for the forward. The contract talks are said to be ongoing with Barcelona, Real MadridArsenal and Paris Saint-Germain. All these clubs are reportedly keeping tabs on how the situation progresses.

Manchester City transfer verdict

Manchester City had a quiet transfer window and showed their faith in the current group. With the emergence of young talent like McAtee, Man City seems to be in good shape.

However, there are rumours of a big signing coming up in the summer transfer window. As of now, the Man City squad seems to be good for the second half of the season.
