Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham January transfer window seems to be a fair one with the arrival and departure of the players. Tottenham boss Antonio Conte seemed to target this winter transfer window in a bid to revamp his ailing squad.

Meanwhile, The Spurs were rumoured to sign several big names. They looked to sign Alvaro Morata, Kulusevski, Ousmane Dembele, and Rodrigo Bentancur. However, the North London giants managed to sign Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus.

On the other hand, Tottenham managed to sell Dele Alli on the deadline day. They also managed to loan out several players from their squad. So, let’s analyze the transfer arrivals and departures of Tottenham Hotspur;

Tottenham transfer arrivals

Despite various rumours, Tottenham managed to sign Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Betancur in this transfer window.

Dejan Kulusevski

The 21-year-old winger signed an 18-month loan deal with Tottenham Hotspur. Meanwhile, the loan deal was worth €10m. The deal includes an option to purchase, which would become an obligation on certain conditions. However, the additional fee may go upto €35m to make the move permanent as per Fabrizio Romano.

Conte is understood to be excited at working with the Sweden international. He can play in a variety of attacking and midfield positions. Due to his versatility, Conte will get the option to use Son Heung Min as a striker.

Rodrigo Bentancur

The Uruguayan international signed a three-and-a-half-year contract for a fee of €19m with the Spurs. However, the fee can rise upto €25m considering the add-ons and bonuses.

The 24-year-old midfielder has helped Juventus to lift three titles and two Italian Cups. Meanwhile, he can be used as a defensive midfielder or a playmaker with an impressive range of passing.

Tottenham transfer departures

The Spurs loaned out several players from their squad. They managed to loan out Bryan Gil, Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso, Nile John, Jack Clarke, and Kion Etete.

Tottenham fans witnessed another dramatic transfer on the deadline day as Dele Alli signed for Everton. Along with that, Spurs are also negotiated exits for Steven Bergwijn and right-back Matt Doherty. However, they failed to find good suitors for them.

Tottenham transfer verdict

Conte has managed to find solutions to most of the problems he faced during the first half of the season. With the addition of Kulusevski and Bentancur, Tottenham seems to have sorted their final third and midfield.

However, Conte is still not satisfied with the right wing-back position and would look to consolidate it in the summer. He has also managed to loan out and sell the surplus players from the squad.

So, looking at the transfers, it seems to be a fairly good winter transfer window for the Spurs.
