Manchester City gets to know the asking price for Marc Cucurella

About Football Express UK

Manchester City are known to have to pay a price of more than £ 50 million in order to acquire Cucurella in the current transfer window.

Oleksandr Zinchenko has agreed to sign for rival club Arsenal. Therefore, City would be in the market for acquiring a new left-back this season.

Cucurella is reported to be City’s prime target in this transfer window for the aforementioned position. Moreover, the 90min reports that Brighton are hoping to get an offer from City soon. The report adds that Brighton would be asking a price ‘well in excess of £50m’ for the Spanish defender.

This is primarily because they want to get a higher fee than they could acquire from the selling of Ben White to Arsenal. The Seagulls are in a strong position to negotiate a higher fee for Cucurella as his contract with the club runs up to 2026.

Why does Manchester City have their eyes set on Marc Cucurella?

Cucurella as a teenager spent his time, first at Espanyol before he joined Barcelona. However, he could feature in only one first-team match for the La Blaugrana.

After his stint with Barcelona, he moved to another Spanish club- Getafe. He impressed at Getafe which led Brighton to pick him up in 2021.

Since then, Cucurella has been featured in 38 games for the club, scoring one goal and providing two assists in that tenure.

Brighton chairman Tony Bloom was all praise for the defender and he recently told The Argus:

All I can say about Marc is he is a tremendous player, a tremendous person. He is brilliant for the dressing room. The players love him.

Graham (Potter) and the coaching staff love him, I love him, the fans love him. He was unbelievably good last season, his first season in the Premier League. We are hoping for more to come and we haven’t had a bid for him.
