Manchester United: Ten Hag speaks on the importance of pressing

About Football Express UK

Manchester United have not had the best of times last season as they end their campaign at 6th. However, Erik Ten Hag hopes to achieve much more with United this season. Staying true to his belief, United have won all their games in preseason so far scoring at least 3 goals in each game.

The United attack looks in sync as Antony Martial, Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho made their way into the score sheet. The preseason looks exciting for United as the forwards are piling up the goals in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Erik Ten Hag believes that United could achieve a lot this season if the team continues with the same work rate, especially the forwards.

“I hope we can convince them as they do a lot of work, A lot of running. Often you see offensive players, they miss, that is what they think, in the offence, the energy. But you can see they put a lot of energy in defense and they get rewarded by scoring goals because we are winning balls high on the pitch.

No opponent likes to get beat on the press, in the defending line. I think it’s a big advantage to do that, but you need the whole team.”

Ten Hag on the Ronaldo Situation

Cristiano Ronaldo has made his intentions clear as he wants to leave Old Trafford. However, Ten Hag has addressed this as he says Ronaldo is not for sale and is in his plans for the next season.

“We are planning for Cristiano Ronaldo for the season and that’s it. I’m looking forward to working with him. I have read but what I say is Cristiano is not for sale, he is in our plans and we want success together.

I spoke with him before this issue came up, I had a conversation with him and I had a good talk. That is between Cristiano and me. What I can confirm is we had a really good conversation together.”
