Carragher says Earling Haaland can get better

The Norwegian striker has drive himself into the conversation for the being the best player in the world last season, leading Manchester city to win the treble with 53 goals in 52 matches.

Even in the ongoing campaign, Haaland has scored three goals in the first three Premier League matches so far.

Speaking about Erling Haaland to Sky Sports in post-match analysis, Carragher said: “I actually think his second-half performance was outstanding.

“When you have a player with that quality, I’d like to see them get him more touches.”

“When he gets the ball, he’s turning on defenders, he turns on goal

he plays in [Julian] Alvarez for a chance, and it was brilliant play.”

“For me, he’s not just a goalscorer, he’s more than that.”

Carragher added: “I’ve mentioned Sergio Aguero [and his goals], but when I think of the greatest player in Premier League history, I think of Thierry Henry.”

“I’m not saying that he’s going to be Thierry, but I think he could be a [Didier] Drogba-type player with loads of goals.”

“That player that pulls people about, gets in the channels, turns defenders around.”

“Even when we used to watch him at Dortmund and the Bundesliga,

it is a different league and they played more on a counter-attack and run end to end

you see him in full flow and the speed of it is just absolutely frightening

but we don’t get to see that because of the team he is playing for.
