Manchester City have recently signed one of the top talents of footballing world Erling Haaland. The striker has completed his move from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City. Further on, both the club have made the deal official as well. Haaland will be joining Man City from next season as Guardiola will now have a perfect number-9 at his disposal. City triggered Haaland’s £51 million release clause which paved the way for the striker to join them.
The news absolutely sent City fans into a frenzy given their club has acquired a top player. However, the fans seemed worried after rumours of Haaland’s overly glamourous lifestyle outside of football.
Rumours were doing rounds that Spanish giants Barcelona didn’t make a move for Haaland due to his over-partying when away from the pitch. But once again, one of the most trusted man of footballing world, Fabrizio Romano has come up with a news which could comfort the City fans.
Romano has covered every bit of Haaland to Man City deal, and now has another news. Haaland has had some injury worries this season forcing him to miss a handful of games. But Romano has assured that the striker is not ‘injury prone’ as such.
Man City fans are relieved after Romano clears the air over Haaland
In his column for CaughtOffside, Romano has rubbished all the “false” rumours surrounding Haaland. There are almost zero doubts over Haaland’s abilities after the Norwegian scored 86 goals in 89 games for Dortmund. Erling Haaland is certainly going to bolster Pep’s hunt for the Champions League with Man City. Moreover, with City set to lose their only available striker Gabriel Jesus in the summer, Haaland’s signing couldn’t have come on a right time.
But the recent rumours of the 21-year-old being more of a party-monster have been dismissed by Romano. The transfer expert in his column wrote,
“I can tell you that the reports circulating around Erling Haaland are false. The stories about Barcelona being unconvinced by his off the pitch lifestyle are not correct, just like Real Madrid have never had any doubts or concerns about Erling’s injuries.”
Romano further revealed why Barcelona couldn’t land Erling Haaland despite entering the negotiations.
“The reality is that both clubs (and Bayern Munich too…) have tried in every way to convince Haaland to join them, but especially for Barca it was impossible due to the financial situation of the club. But Barca manager Xavi, also in private, has tried to persuade Erling Haaland. There have never been doubts about his private life,”
, revealed the Italian.
The journalist says that Barcelona have now turned their attention to Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski who wants to leave the Bavarians.
“Of course, Lewandowski has been the priority for Barcelona since late February – it was clear Haaland was no longer available as he was negotiating with Manchester City. Barcelona are ready to offer Lewandowski exactly what he would like to receive: a three-year contract with a salary already discussed with his agent Pini Zahavi. But it all depends on Bayern now.”
Well transfer market’s a crazy place where anything can happen. But this summer has already kicked-off on an exciting note with Haaland signing for Man City.
