About Football Express UK

According to reports, Chelsea could sign upwards of six players in the summer transfer window following the club’s takeover was completed by Todd Boehly.

The club are set to lose a lot of stars on a free transfer in the summer transfer window. Star centre-half Antonio Rüdiger is set to join Spanish giants Real Madrid on a free transfer in the summer. While Andreas Christensen is set to join Real Madrid’s biggest rivals in Barcelona.

Left wing-back Marcos Alonso is also set to leave the club on a free transfer. The Spanish defender looks likely to be heading back to his homeland, with Barcelona keen to sign the defender. While the blues’ captain César Azpilicueta is also out of contract in the summer. Thomas Tuchel did confirm that the club were close to agreeing on a new deal with the defender. But the agreement is still not closed and Barcelona are pushing to sign the defender on a free transfer.

Chelsea’s shortlist of potential summer signings

According to GiveMeSport, Chelsea have already identified a list of targets ahead of the summer transfer window. Reports also suggest that with Todd Boehly’s takeover bid successful, the club will target to make an English spine in the future transfer windows.

While the target list for centre-half includes Jules Kounde, Presnel Kimpembe, and Harry Maguire. Chelsea were linked with Jules Kounde in the summer transfer window. The blues had agreed on personal terms with the French centre-half. But the clubs could not agree on a transfer fee for the centre-half. Kounde was once again linked with the club again in the January transfer window. But the move once again could not get over the line.

Presnel Kimpembe is another name on Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel’s list of targets. Thomas Tuchel has worked previously worked with Presnel Kimpembe while he was the manager of PSG. The 26-year-old has been a key part of the PSG defence in recent seasons.

The new owners may need to sign both the French centre-half Jules Kounde and Presnel Kimpembe in order to replace the outgoing star defenders. Both the French defenders will cost a fortune but the new owners may have to spend big to win over the fans in the early stages of their tenure.
