Arsenal target Gabriel Jesus might just end up at the Emirates this summer. The striker has decided to leave Manchester City at the end of this season and hence is finding a new club. Arsenal were swift in targeting Gabriel Jesus after it was confirmed that the striker would be available in the summer. The Gunners are in desperate need of a striker and Jesus has provided them with a brilliant opportunity.
Things are falling perfectly for Arsenal who are in the driving seat for Champions League qualification. The Gunners just need a victory in the North London Derby to secure a top-four finish over Tottenham. Moreover, things are progressing well for Arsenal off the pitch as well. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has recently come up with hugely positive updates over Jesus-to-Arsenal negotiations.
Arsenal is on the right path in their pursuit of Gabriel Jesus
Fabrizio Romano has provided a string of updates over the future of Gabriel Jesus concerning Arsenal. The journalist first confirmed Arsenal’s interest in Jesus last month. Romano through his official Twitter handle told that “Arsenal have Gabriel Jesus on top of their list”. Moreover, he further added at direct contacts had been made established between the player and the club. However, Romano has also emphasized on the fact that Arsenal are yet to approach Manchester City over a possible move.
Further on, in his latest tweets, Romano had dropped a huge hint that Gabriel Jesus may after all play for Arsenal from next season onwards. The Italian has revealed that new talks have taken place between Jesus’ agents and Arsenal. Moreover, Romano even conveyed what the striker’s agent Marcelo Pettinati has told him. According to the transfer guru, Pettinati told him, “We had talks with Arsenal about Gabriel Jesus, we like the project – it’s a possibility we’re discussing”. That is a huge positive for Arsenal who can finally have their hands on a quality striker.
Jesus the man to lead the Gunners’ attack
Manchester City have confirmed Erling Haaland’s signing from Borussia Dortmund. Moreover, the English champions have added Argentine striker Julian Alvarez as well to their attack. As a result, this could mean the end of the road for Jesus at the Etihad. However, Gabriel Jesus can start a new chapter at Arsenal, under Mikel Arteta who has formerly coached the striker. Jesus played under Arteta when the Spaniard was Guardiola’s assistant at City from 2016 to 2019.
Arteta knows how to bring the best out of Jesus as the Brazilian scored an impressive 55 goals in 121 games when the current Arsenal boss was at City. Moreover, the striker provided 20 assists as well in that time. That’s a goal contribution ratio of 0.6 per game. Furthermore, Jesus ticks all the boxes of the kind of striker wanted by Arteta. The City man is now 25 and can blend in perfectly with this young Arsenal side.
His exploits in the Premier League are scintillating as well, having scored 58 goals and assisted 32 in 157 games. Thus, it won’t take time for Gabriel Jesus to settle in as such at Arsenal. On top of that, with Eddie Nketiah and Lacazette ready to leave, Jesus could be at the centre of the Gunners’ system under Arteta. All in all, chances are improving for Arsenal that they land Jesus in the summer.
