Erik ten Hag and Manchester United look set for a big rebuild ahead of them in the summer transfer window. The Dutch manager is on the lookout for a new centre-half, new midfielder, and a new striker in the summer.
Manchester United led in a club record-high 57 goals in the Premier League this campaign. The club finished the campaign on a zero-goal difference. While the club also recorded their worst ever points tally in a Premier League season with just 58 points. The club just signed star French centre-half Raphael Varane from Real Madrid in the summer.
But the defender has suffered from constant injury setbacks and missed a major chunk of the season. While Harry Maguire‘s dip in form has also played its part in the team’s failure this term. Both Ole Gunnar Solskjær and Ralf Rangnick have chopped and changed the centre-half pairing throughout the campaign. But nothing has quite worked out.
The former ex-Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag was present for the red’s final day 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace. The problem in the squad were there at full flow for Erik ten Hag and his assistant managers to see. The team looked completely distorted and disorganized. While Bruno Fernandes gifted Wilfried Zaha the goal with a horrible long-back pass.
Manchester United targeting Jurrien Timber and Pau Torres?
Reliable football journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Manchester United and Erik ten Hag have discussed Jurrien Timber and Pau Torres internally ahead of the summer transfer window. Jurrien Timber was linked with Manchester United the day Erik ten Hag took over. The young Ajax centre half could join his former boss at Manchester United. Ajax have slapped a £30 million price tag on the 20-year-old defender.
While Manchester United have been scouting Pau Torres for some time now. Fellow Premier League giants Manchester City are also scouting the Spanish defender. Pau Torres has a €65 million release clause in his contract. But Villareal are willing to accept a fee close to €50 million for the defender.
Phil Jones and Eric Bailly are both looking to leave the club in the summer. All the transfer fees the club brings in will be invested back into the team. Finally, the Manchester United faithful will be hoping that Erik ten Hag can fix the leaky defence.
