About Football Express UK

Manchester United forward Bruno Fernandes could leave the club after the 27-year-old turned down a contract offer from the Red Devils as per the report in English outlet The Express(via Four Four Two)

Following a stellar couple of seasons at the Old Trafford stadium. The Portugal international has been enduring a difficult season this time around. But, scored a brace on Saturday evening against Aston Villa in a 2-2 draw.

According to the report, Manchester United offered a contract proposal in November to extend Bruno Fernandes’ stay at the Old Trafford stadium. But, the negotiation hasn’t gone so well and the player has turned down a proposal from the Red Devils.

The report further claims that the 27-year-old earns £100,000 a week in salary which is quite low compared to the other players – Cristiano Ronaldo (£510,000), David De Gea (£375,000), Jadon Sancho (£350,000), Raphael Varane (£340,000), Paul Pogba (£290,000), Edinson Cavani (£250,000), Anthony Martial (£200,000).

What will be the future of Bruno Fernandes at Manchester United?

Although Bruno Fernandes has struggled to showcase his best this season. The midfielder has been one of the most consistent players on the pitch for Manchester United. So, it will be interesting to see if the Red Devils will raise their contract proposal or not.

On the other hand, the Red Devils hierarchy has given away quite hefty contracts to a few of the players. And it has caused a huge problem to offload those players. So, the club management should look to structure their wage bill.

Meanwhile, Ralf Rangnick will join the consultancy role after his period as the interim boss. And it will be interesting to see what the German’s stance will be about offering these huge contracts. The 63-year-old likes to bring in young players who are at their first big contracts in their careers.

But, it will not be the right decision by Manchester United to not award a big contract to Bruno Fernandes. The midfielder almost dragged the club from failure to the second-place finish in the last season under the former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. So, the 27-year-old deserves a new long-term contract at the Old Trafford club.
