Arsenal made a mistake by selling Matteo Guendouzi for only 9 million. This is also because the French midfielder is worth 50 million.

He would also have added squad depth to the current Gunners squad in the midfield. Hence, it looks like Mikel Arteta got the sale wrong.

ARSENAL MADE A BIG MISTAKE WITH THE SALE OF MATTEO GUENDOUZI

Arsenal made a decision to sell Matteo Guendouzi for only 9 million in the 2021/22 season. A report also claims that the Gunners sold him because of his damaged relationship with Mikel Arteta. The midfielder could not keep his cool in the matches against big teams. Hence, Mikel Arteta decided that the French midfielder should leave the club.

Hence, he joined Hertha Berlin on loan. However, the loan deal did not work out for him. Hence, Arsenal decided to send him on loan to Olympique Marseille. The midfielder also impressed back in the Ligue 1. Hence, the French giants decided to exercise the 9 million buy option for the midfielder. The midfielder continues to impress.

ASTON VILLA WANTED TO SIGN THE FRENCH MIDFIELDER IN THE JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW

According to reports, Aston Villa wanted to sign the former Arsenal midfielder in the January transfer window. However, the French giants asked a transfer fee of 50 million. Although, Villa were only willing to pay 30 million for him. Hence, Aston Villa will now explore the deal in the next summer transfer window. However, negotiations also prove that the Gunners have made a big mistake.

Arsenal sold a midfielder for only 9 million whose current value is at least 35-40 million. The Gunners also would have benefitted with his presence. Despite the signing of Jorginho, the Gunners do look a midfielder short for the rest of the season. Hence, Matteo Guendouzi would have definitely added squad depth for Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal will now hope that potential combination of Unai Emery and Matteo Guendouzi in the next season. However, the Gunners themselves will also focus on signing midfielders. They are targeting signings like Moises Caicedo, Declan Rice and Sergej Milinkovic Savic.
