Manchester United to renew the contract of the Barcelona target

United

Manchester United are close to renewing the contract of right-back Diogo Dalot, whose contract was set to end this summer. Meanwhile, Dalot was on FC Barcelona’s transfer radar recently.

Moreover, Diogo Dalot is in a great run of form and is a starter under Erik Ten Hag. Meanwhile, he was in the starting 11 for all 13 league games this season.

However, Aaron Wan-Bissaka has taken over the right-back position owing to Dalot’s hamstring injury. With the current performances of both the right-backs, it looks unlikely that United would sell any of them.

Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo reported that the Red Devils have put forward a five-year contract on the table. However, if the Portuguese international doesn’t accept the offer, then they will offer a season extension to him.

United stopping FC Barcelona’s ambition to sign Dalot

Diogo Dalot was on Barcelona’s radar for a long period of time. However, if the Portuguese extend his contract with the Red Devils then the Spanish giants will be out of the race.

Meanwhile, Manchester United is interested in keeping him beyond this season. The United management is already discussing the financial aspects of the contract with the player.

Moreover, the 23-year-old right-back spoke about his intentions to extend his contract. He said:

“We are talking about it, we are negotiating and we are seeing how both parties would benefit. It’s no secret that I’m happy to be here, I love this club and I love to play for this club.”

Moreover, the Manchester United boss also expressed his pleasure at the competition and the quality of the full-backs. With the Portuguese right-back reaching his prime, the United management is working fast to make him pen down the contract extension.

Meanwhile, Barca is looking at other options in the form of Benjamin Pavard, and Julian Araujo, among others.
