Arsenal lost the game against Brentford because of an error made by VAR referee Lee Mason. It also claims that Mason gave a onside to a clear offside goal by Ivan Toney.

Hence, such bad decisions could also impact the title challenge of the Gunners this season. The bad decisions also meant that the Gunners were forced to 1-1 draw against Brentford.

ARSENAL SHOULD HAVE MAINTAINED THEIR FIVE POINT LEAD OVER MANCHESTER CITY

The Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) have apologised to Arsenal for making multiple errors in their game against Brentford. The most important one was giving the goal to Ivan Toney for Brentford to equalise. However, after the match, it was clear that the goal should have been ruled offside. This is because midfielder Christian Norgaard was offside in the build up. However, VAR referee forgot to draw a line that would have determined that the goal was offside.

THE PGMOL in the apology to Arsenal have further said, “PGMOL can confirm its Chief Refereeing Officer Howard Webb has contacted both Arsenal and Brighton & Hove Albion to acknowledge and explain the significant errors in the VAR process in their respective Premier League fixtures on Saturday.” The former referee Hackett has also said that Lee Mason should be fired for this mistake. This is also the Gunners could lose the title because of the bad decisions.

THE GUNNERS SHOULD NOT LOOSE THEIR COOL OVER BAD DECISIONS

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has requested the fans to be not disappointed and keep supporting the team. The Gunners players should also not make bad tackles in the upcoming matches. It also because they have to deal with a potential title deciding match against Manchester City. They need to remember that they are three points clear of second placed Manchester City. However, if they lose Manchester City take the top position. Hence, the Gunners cannot cry over the bad referring decisions.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has also said that goal of Brentford looked offside. He further said, “Yes, I just looked it back and it is offside yeah. It is [frustrating] but probably they will give an explanation later in the week but today we haven’t got any, looking at the images, you have to apply certain principles in defending and you do that by sticking to the rules and suddenly you apply different rules you have to change your principles. Tell us before because you do not hide the line that high because you are always going to have an advantage if you get blocked.

Hence, it is clear that Arsenal players and management are going to get frustrated with the bad decisions. However, they also need to remember that they have big trophies to win this season. Hence, the Gunners should forget the bad decisions and focus on scoring goals and defending well for the rest of the season.
