Professional Game Match Officials Board- League (PGMOL) have announced that John Brooks is not the VAR official for the Arsenal game against Manchester City. It is because John Brooks wrongly disallowed a clear Brighton goal against Crystal Palace. Hence, the officials board had to apologise to Brighton for the mistake on their social media. Therefore, John Brooks is now not going to be the VAR referee for the title deciding game of the Gunners against Manchester City.
It is also because millions of football fans will watch the exciting game. Hence, the officials board will hope that his replacement David Coote will not repeat the same mistakes. They are also aware of the mistakes another of their VAR referee Lee Mason made in the Arsenal draw against Brentford. Lee Mason allowed a clear offside Brentford goal. This helped Brentford get a equaliser. Hence, this draw also meant that the Gunners are only three points clear of Manchester City before the start of the game.
