Transfers: West Ham target Bordeaux striker Hwang Ui-jo on a bargain

Flamengo is not in touch

West Ham has targeted Hwang Ui-jo from Bordeaux for a price of 6M. Bordeaux has had a terrible season as they have attained relegation. This essentially has caused Bordeaux to sell their best players as they move on to third division football instead of Ligue 2 as they face financial debt.

This meant Bordeaux have to sell Ui-jo who has been one of their best players last season. West Ham has been eyeing a striker for some time now. As Ui-jo is available, It is likely David Moyes will go for the player as he is available for 6M.

West Ham does have a reliable forward in the form of Jarrod Bowen who has had an incredible season. Bowen has had the same goal involvements as Kevin De Bruyne last season. He has scored and found the back of the net 18 times and has assisted 13 times in 51 appearances in all competitions. David Moyes wants to add more depth to the attack in the coming season. Moreover, he wants to support Bowen up front.

Ui-jo: Pros and Cons

Ui-jo is a great bargain at 6m. The 29-year-old is a natural forward however he can play in any position up front. This aspect is one of the main things that is appealing to Moyes. Moreover, he is very hardworking and presses constantly. He has a great work ethic and has found the back of the net 11 times and assisted 2 times in 32 appearances in Ligue 1 in the recently concluded season.

Although Ui-jo is a great player, His age is of concern as he turns 30 soon. West Ham should be wary as they are signing an aging player. However, West Ham should go ahead and get Ui-jo as he could give West Ham a good couple of years. Moreover, he has had the experience of playing at the top level which could be useful to West Ham.
