Arsenal tell West Ham to pay £40 million for player they want

Arsenal

West Ham United have been told by Arsenal that we must pay £40 million to sign one of their players this winter.

Arsenal are believed to be ready to cash in on one of their Hale End academy graduates, with West Ham leading the charge for his signature in the January transfer window.

Hammers boss David Moyes desperately needs to bolster his centre-forward ranks at the London Stadium next month.

And Gunners hitman Eddie Nketiah could well be the man for the job

A player we have been linked with on numerous occasions before.

And now Football Insider are claiming that Arsenal are demanding £40 million from West Ham for the 24-year-old striker.

So the question now is – should we be paying anything like that for the Gunners forward?

West Ham told by Arsenal to pay big amount for the striker

Nektiah has six goals and four assists to his name in 24 games for the Gunners so far this season. For more context, he has played only 1,141 minutes – and average of just over 47 minutes per match (Transfermarkt).

It’s a decent return from the England international hitman, but as most Arsenal fans will tell you, the majority of his goals and assists come against weaker teams, and he often goes missing in big games.

That said, he is the perfect centre-forward for the Hammers in my view.

Nketiah always makes tireless runs into the channels to stretch the opposition’s back-line and tire out his opponents. He deserves more credit than he gets for the way that he holds up the ball as well.

The 24-year-old is very technically gifted and is a natural finisher. Put it this way, he’d be a major upgrade on Michail Antonio.

However, I will say that £40 million is a lot of money to be paying for him,

And West Ham shouldn’t offer Arsenal anything over £30 million as far as I’m concerned.

Whether that will be enough money to prise him away from the Emirates in January remains to be see though.
