Manchester United have targeted Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. Valued at 95M, Osimhen has been a constant threat for opponents in Serie A this season. Osimhen has been in sensational form as he found the back of the net 18 times and assisted 6 times in 32 appearances in all competitions this season. United have seen the stats and wants to bring Osimhen to Old Trafford.
United have lacked goal-scoring players up front in the recently concluded season. The only player who constantly brought in output was Cristiano Ronaldo with 18 goals in the Premier League. Ronaldo scored almost 34% of United’s goals in the Premier League this season. However, Ronaldo is out of contract next summer. Moreover, he wants a move away from this transfer window as well. Although it is likely he ends up staying at Old Trafford. United cannot afford to depend on Ronaldo as he is 37 and is aging. Moreover, they need a young striker who can replace him once he leaves. United believes Osimhen to be the perfect player to partner with Ronaldo and replace him later on.
Osimhen on his future
Osimhen had talked about his future and addressed rumors about clubs from Spain and England showing interest.
“I don’t know my future, I know anything can happen, but now I just want to go on vacation with my family, clear my head and recharge my batteries. Then we’ll take care of the rest. I know there are many rumours that they would like me in Spain or in England, but I don’t think it’s the right time to talk about it now that I’m with the national team.”
United, however, faces competition as Arsenal have shown interest in Osimhen. In fact, Arsenal are in the market for forwards as well. Although they could drop their interests since they have almost completed the signing of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.
