Manchester United Erik ten Hag needs to fix a problem before Anthony joins

About Football Express UK

Manchester Untied are looking to buy Anthony. However, if Antony is to flourish at Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium, Erik ten Hag has already been informed that he has to fix a deficiency in the team.

The Brazilian is reportedly on United’s radar, and there are rumors that a transfer is getting closer. As Antony’s coach at Ajax, Ten Hag is a huge admirer of the 22-year-old.

In just 32 appearances for the Amsterdam club during the 2021–2022 season, Antony managed a total of 12 goals and 10 assists. The forward’s wild side, though, is well known; this was evident during Ajax’s 3-2 win against Feyenoord.

After scoring a last-second winner, Antony went from hero to zero when he was unfairly dismissed for two cautionable offenses. Before being given his marching orders for time-wasting, he was first given a yellow card for celebrating by stripping off his shirt.

Rene van der Gijp, a former Netherlands international, called his full-time behavior “idiotic,” and Wim Kieft said that Ajax will need to control him going forward. Such a youngster can’t be soothed by a coach, he claimed (as reported by the Mirror).

Naturally, Ten Hag will never declare that Antony acts stupidly, but he believes it. Typically, this behavior is addressed in the locker room with a “Hey, what are you doing?” question.

The absence of leaders in the locker room was one significant factor in United’s failure last season. Without a captain to unite the group, United stumbled on multiple occasions and appeared confused on the field.

A player like Antony can have his skills squandered if Ten Hag ignores this problem.
