Tottenham legend Pat Jennings has said that leaving the club to join Arsenal was the worst day of his life.

Tottenham legendary goalkeeper Pat Jennings has said that leaving the club was the first day of his life. However, he has also said that he enjoyed himself at Arsenal.

Although, he has said that his loyalties remain with Spurs. However, he also makes it clear that he also has good memories with the Gunners.

TOTTENHAM LEGEND RECALLS HIS WORST DAY OF HIS LIFE

According to an interview with Sun, Tottenham legend Pat Jennings has said that leaving the club remains his worst day of his life. Jennings remained the main goalkeeper for Spurs for 13 years. However, in 1977, the London side told him that he was surplus to requirements. Hence, they were open to sell him. Therefore, Arsenal came in and immediately signed him.

However, for the Tottenham legend, he did not like leaving the club. He further said in the interview, “Well, it was the worst day of my life, being told I was surplus to requirements, after 13 years, you can imagine,”. “But I knew at Arsenal, I was playing with two or three old boys in in the international team, Pat Rice and Sammie Nelson. “I knew all the other Irish lads, it was home from home, basically. It meant, from my point of view, that I didn’t have to move the family or the kids out of London.

PAT JENNINGS WILL NEVER SAY A BAD WORD ABOUT ARSENAL

The Arsenal fans welcomed the former Pat Jennings with open arms. Hence, Pat Jennings also felt the love. However, he has also said that the Tottenham remains his favourite place. He further said, “I have been, 43 years, at Tottenham now, within the coaching staff and as a player,”. “Forty-three years. There is no doubt where my loyalties lie. But, having said that, I have never had a bad word to say about Arsenal.”

The Tottenham legend also had a great time with Arsenal during his playing career. He made 327 appearances for the Gunners. He also won a FA Cup with them. Whereas, for the Spurs, he made 208 appearances as a player. He also won trophies with them. The trophies included two League Cups, the UEFA Cup and the FA Cup.

Hence, it is clear that the Tottenham and Arsenal fans remember Pat Jennings for all the right things. Whereas, Pat Jennings can also tell that he enjoyed playing his football with both the clubs. The goalkeeper also managed his family life well with his continued stay in London.
