Tottenham enters the race for signing a “FRIGHTENING WINGER”

Tottenham Hotspur has joined the battle to acquire Jeremy Doku, a winger for Rennes, despite offers from West Ham United and Manchester City. Spurs is now keen on moving the Rennes winger to London, after considering Jeremy Doku as their top target.

Tottenham joins the race to sign Jeremy Doku

The Independent claims that the competition for Doku’s signature may continue until the close of the summer transfer window. According to reports, West Ham is currently in first place and has made an offer to Rennes. Rennes, though, is still holding to its asking price of slight less than £50 million. Even though the Hammers may be pressing, it’s been reported that Manchester City is “confident” Doku will sign with them in the next weeks.

This follows news earlier this week from Foot Mercato that Doku had already agreed to personal terms to join City. Tottenham now trails the competition for Doku, albeit it appears that they are only recently entering it. According to the source, whomever doesn’t get Doku would probably move on to chase Crystal Palace striker Eberechi Eze. However, Doku and Eze play in very different ways in terms of style, and Palace is likely to be certain about Eze’s future after they have kept their star Michael Olise.

Hammers lead the race to land Doku

West Ham’s former defender Anton Ferdinand deems Doku as ‘frightening winger’ on the Five YouTube channel back in 2022.

Doku, who rose through the ranks at Belgian club Anderlecht, had long been predicted to become a superstar. At the age of 16, the right winger made his professional debut and wreaked havoc with his lightning-fast pace. Doku decided to sign with Rennes in 2020 rather than transfer to a big European club, taking Raphinha’s place after the Brazilian’s transfer to Leeds United. Doku, who is still very young, has already appeared in almost 100 games for Rennes. Doku’s performance in the final third need improvement, but he possesses a great skill to carry the ball and outrun defenders.

Only time can determine whether Hammers can make the deal done, but City and Tottenham remain waiting in the sidelines to make their own moves.
