Ronald de Boer all praise for Ajax youngster

Ajax legend Ronald de Boer have high expectation of defender Jurrien Timber. The former midfielder believes that the 20-year-old have what it takes to be in a strong team like Manchester City.

Ronald de Boer was speaking to Ziggo Sport’s Rondo as reported by Ajax Showtime. He had very good words to talk about Timber and his development into one of the regulars at Ajax.

Timber is a main part of the Ajax team after joining them from their famed academy. Ronald de Boer believes that the youngster is amazing, despite his small size.

“I think Timber is really great. He plays so well,” – told Ronald de Boer.

“He dominates and has peace on the ball. It is unprecedented. But would he, because he is 1.78 metres tall, also be able to play in the Premier League against Lukaku or another top striker? Will clubs go for that? It depends what kind of club you go to. I think he can join Manchester City like that. There he plays with a lot of space at his back.”- added de Boer

These are great words coming from a club legend and shows the promise and quality of the young Dutch defender.

TIMBER IMPRESSING AT AJAX

Jurrien Timber has so far made 56 appearances for the Ajax senior team, scoring 3 and assisting 1 goal during the period. In this season he has already played more minutes than the last season, showing how important he is for the side. His performance for Ajax has also earned him a call up to the national side. Timber has made 6 appearances so far for Netherland national team.

Timber is an excellent central defender, who can cover in multiple positions on the backline. Though he is not as tall as some of the other defenders, he makes up for it with his ability on the ball. The 20-year-old is a good passer of the ball and also loves to dribble past the opposition players. He is also a strong tackler and will only improve with time.

Ronald de Boer did say he has the ability to make a move to clubs like Manchester City. The bigger clubs might not be ready to take an immediate risk on the 20-year-old, but there is a need for good ball-playing centre-backs as well. It is reported that clubs like Chelsea and Tottenham are monitoring the player. But for the time being, Timber will remain an Ajax star.
