Ex-Arsenal director of football labelled a ‘con man’ by Ajax director

Arsenal

Incoming Ajax CEO Alex Kroes has called former Arsenal man Sven Mislintat a ‘con man’ for the business he did with the Dutch club.

Alex Kroes is set to become Ajax’s new CEO next March,

And the former Go Ahead Eagles owner hasn’t held back in his criticism of former Ajax Director of Football Sven Mislintat.

“The past two transfer windows are the worst in this club’s history,”

Kroes said in quotes reported in Menno de Galan’s book ‘Ajax In Crisis’.

“Sven Mislintat is a charming con man. Four left-backs?! I would have given people a slap in the neck if I, as general manager, had known about it.

“Four left defenders and no right-wingers. It’s really terrible.”

Ajax director vs Ex-Arsenal director

Mislintat was recently accused of telling players to switch agents to someone with a stake in his company if they wanted a transfer to Ajax.

Dutch outlet NOS reported quotes from VEB director Gerben Everts on Mislintat,

With Everts accusing the former Arsenal Head of Recruitment of asking new Ajax signings to switch agents to Arthur Beck of AKA Global GmbH.

Earlier this year, Beck took a stake in Mislintat’s company Matchmetrics GmbH,

And he reportedly earned a commission from Ajax for brokering the transfer of Borna Sosa – signed by the club over the summer.

Ajax then announced that there would be an independent investigation into whether Mislintat breached any stock exchange rules.

Prior to that, Ajax had sacked Mislintat due to the “lack of broad support within the organisation”. They claim Mislintat’s departure was unrelated to the forensic accountant investigation into him.

After a woeful start to the season, Ajax currently sit 12th in the Eredivisie, 24 points behind league leaders PSV.

The Dutch club are also bottom of their Europa League group which includes Marseille,

Also Brighton and AEK Athens, and are highly likely to miss out on reaching the knockout stage.
