Report: Ajax forward goes on strike amid Manchester United transfer

About Football Express UK

Ajax forward Antony is trying to force a move to Premier League side Manchester United in the transfer window this summer.

The Red Devils have been strongly linked with a move for Antony this summer and are keen to make a swoop. Moreover, the Erik ten Hag managed side even placed bids that eventually were rejected by the Eredivisie outfit.

However, United are still engineering a move for the forward and are optimistic about the move this summer. Antony has been pushing from his side to join the Mancunian side before the transfer window concludes in few weeks.

Antony pushing for Manchester United transfer

Antony has been attempting to force his way out of the Dutch club and join hands with United. Moreover, the Brazilian forward has even refused to play any matches for the club in order to facilitate a move.

Alfred Schreuder, the club’s head coach had to leave the forward out of the side’s latest fixture in the league. It is understood that Antony has been wanting a move to United since February and has communicated to his agents.

In an interview with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Antony made a few interesting yet shocking statements about a potential move. He said-

“Since February of this year my agents came to Amsterdam to inform Ajax of my desire to leave the club to face a new challenge and that some of interested clubs would arrive and with them is entirely a great offer,”

“I made it clear once again I want to leave the club. Today in a meeting with the club’s board of directors I expressed my old interest in leaving the club.

Only this time with a considerable offer on the table.

“Others had already arrived, Ajax always refused and hinders my exit with the argument that it only has five days to replace.”

It will be interesting to see what transpires in this saga and if United are able to make a swoop.
