On wednesday, claims arose from Spain that Real Madrid have given up on signing Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint Germain. Los Blancos have grown tired of the drama around the potential deal and decided to shelve the idea.
Intriguingly, hours later, Rafaela Pimenta turned up at the Bernabeu to watch Madrid in action against SC Braga. The home team won the Champions League tie 3-0. However, it’s likely Pimenta’s visit was arranged before the Mbappe claims broke, it’s still got Spanish tongues wagging. Pimenta, of course, represents Erling Haaland, who is the obvious alternative target for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Thursday’s edition of AS states the Manchester City player has a €200m clause for next summer, only applicable for clubs outside the Premier League.
AS report Madrid are ‘very seriously’ considering going for an alternative to Mbappe. However, Haaland is the man who springs to mind. It’s stated an issue could be convincing the Norway international to leave Manchester City. But there, he enjoyed great success under Pep Guardiola.
Pimenta’s visit has helped give this rumour a little nudge forward, despite her denying talks with Florentino Perez.
Mbappe’s move to real madrid collapsed in the previous transfer window due to some unknown circumstances. However, Al hilal, the Saudi club offered a greedy 2 year contract to him. However, he also rejected that bid.
From then, probability of him joining Madrid in the next summer window became very high. However, according to the report by AS earlier, we may see the deal get closed before it’s grand opening.
However, Haaland is the only strong substitute of mbappe at this moment. So, if mbappe’s deal get collapsed, real madrid may go to the race to sign Haaland from Manchester City to Bernabeu. It can happen in the next transfer window.
