Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele looks to be on his way to Manchester United in the summer. The French international seems to have agreed to sign a pre-contract with the Red Devils.
This is according to reports by Spanish Journalist Enric Fontcuberta. In his story for El Periodico, he suggests that Manchester United have an agreement with Ousmane Dembele and hence rules out a move in January.
Ousmane Dembele will see his contract with Barca end in the summer, but the Blaugrana wants the player to leave the club in this winter transfer window. Manchester United are one of the sides the player has been offered to as Barca try to extract whatever they can from the sale.
THINGS GOING BAD AT BARCA
The French winger has been in the news in the last few days, regarding his future. Barcelona has made it clear that they do not have Ousmane Dembele in their plans and want him to leave the club immediately.
However, Dembele and his agent were quick to respond to the allegations. In a social media post, the player said that he wishes to play and his future rests on his agent while also suggesting that the tactics by Barcelona are blackmailing.
The big-money move for Ousmane Dembele to Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund never really worked out. The 24-year-old has been plagued by multiple injuries, as a result of which he was never able to get regular game time in the team.
The relationship between the player and the club has become further straining this season. An agreement over contract extension was never reached between both parties. It now seems that Dembele’s time as a Barcelona player is surely coming to an end.
MANCHESTER UNITED LOOKS THE LIKELY DESTINATION FOR OUSMANE
While Barcelona wants to cut their losses and sell Ousmane Dembele in January, the player seems to be hoping for an exit in the summer. Barca has already offered the player to other clubs including the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and even Newcastle United.
However, for Dembele, a better option would be to wait for six more months and leave in summer. This will give more power to the player as a free agent. Ousmane can currently sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs and as per the reports, it seems like he has done so with Manchester United.
Barcelona has set the price for Ousmane Dembele as £17m. But if Manchester United can have an agreement to bring him in summer for free, there will be very less chance for them to spend money now.
It is still not sure if a contract is actually in place between Ousmane and Manchester United. There is interest in the French winger from other clubs including Chelsea. With just a week left for the transfer window to close, more clarity will be available on the future of Dembele in the coming days.
