Manchester United‘s Incoming minority owner, new investor cum stakeholder is Sir Jim Ratcliffe. He demanded answers as to how United have squandered 1.4billion pounds on players since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement a decade ago. However, Manchester United likely to axe three of their key players in the January transfer window.
While current manager Erik ten Hag is not the only culprit, his most expensive recruit Antony is for the chop in January, according to The Sun.
Ten Hag was the driving force behind the decision to spend £85million on the Brazil international winger but he has fallen way short of expectations and does not look cut out to cope with the rigours of English football.
Manchester United likely to axe players:
The former Ajax star’s link with a return to Brazil. However, Flamengo’s vice-president rubbished reports earlier this week that they’re interested in taking the player on loan.
Jadon Sancho, meanwhile, remains in exile having refused to apologise to his manager following the statement he put out after he was axed from the squad ahead of September’s game against Arsenal.
Ten Hag had been unhappy with the England international’s attitude in training. Hence, with a resolution not forthcoming, United are set to cut their losses with a return to Borussia Dortmund on the cards.
Anthony Martial, meanwhile, is also a surplus with respect to their requirements. Moreover , he fell behind summer signing Rasmus Hojlund in Ten Hag’s pecking order.
The Denmark international enhanced his burgeoning reputation with two more goals, albeit in defeat, against FC Copenhagen in midweek and the youngster insists the squad remains fully behind their under-fire manager.
Of Ten Hag, Hojlund said:
‘A really good coach. He cares about every single detail and he helps me a lot. Moreover, he gives me a lot of confidence and supports me.
‘I think every player in the dressing room supports him. I hope it is just a matter of time [before United will be successful].
‘The first 30 minutes today was some of the best football we have been playing this season.’
