Manchester United: Erik Ten Hag likely to get rid of two first choice center backs

Manchester United

Manchester United have appointed Erik Ten Hag as manager. Ten Hag is to be given a lump sum to sign players that fit his play style. Moreover, Ten Hag will be looking to get rid of the deadwood players.

United are in the market for new players as the transfer window opens. They will be looking to add players in every position. In fact, United are rumored to sign at least 10 players in the transfer window. They will be looking to add a defensive midfielder, a new striker, and a couple of center backs.

United have shown interest in several center backs especially Jurrien Timber and Pau Torres. Both players are fast and hence can easily play a high line. Moreover, they also possess the decent passing ability, something Ten Hag wants in his players.

Troubling times ahead for Lindelof and Maguire

Signing a new center-back will cause trouble for two United center backs – Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire.

Victor Lindelof has been decent this season although he has been muddled with injuries. His fitness was the one thing that was dragging him down. As he came back from an injury, it took time for him to get accustomed to the game. Hence he allowed goals to go in.

Harry Maguire on the other hand has been in absolutely terrible form as he has conceded goals left, right, and center. He has made petty mistakes which has cost United several games over the season. This was shocking as Maguire was very good last season and had a great Euros. In fact, he was even in the team of the competition and the expectations were high. Maybe the expectations got to Maguire and he was unable to recreate his form. In any case, it seems unlikely Maguire will be able to find a spot in Ten Hag’s team.
