Champions League: Referees were celebrating after Liverpool loss against Real Madrid

Real Madrid

Liverpool suffered a heartbreaking loss against Real Madrid in the Champions League finals in 2017/18. Gareth Bale scored a sensational overhead kick to win the game 3-1 for Madrid.

Liverpool were the favorite to win the competition however a lot of things went against them. A couple of dodgy decisions. However, the talking point of the match was Sergio Ramos’s foul on Mohamed Salah which injured his shoulder and essentially took him out of the game. Once Salah was out, It was a breeze for Real Madrid.

Liverpool assistant speaks out

Jurgen Klopp’s assistant Krawietz spoke out on the incident. He claimed that the referees were celebrating in the other room while the Liverpool squad were crying and losing their minds.

“In Kiev, the dressing room was like a sick bay, Imagine that you get in there and one guy has already been to the hospital and is now back, in pain and crying. And then you hear your opponents celebrating.

And in the dressing room next door, the referees are celebrating as well. I don’t know why, but they were singing and partying, with a case of beer. For us, it was awful. Finding the right reaction is tough. But that’s all part of it. You have to show strength and greatness in defeat. And the right reaction. Yes, they really hurt us, but they haven’t knocked us out. We’re down, but it’s not over.”

Liverpool have the opportunity to get their revenge as they face Real Madrid again in the Champions League final. Liverpool would be ready to go all out considering they just lost the Premier League by a single point. They would be looking forward to adding one more title to their season tally in the final game of the season.
