Manchester City player ratings: Guardiola’s men put 5 past Wolves to move three points clear of Liverpool

Manchester City Colwill

Manchester City continued their five-star performance as they once again scored 5 in a game, this time against Wolves. Pep’s men ran riot at the Molineux Stadium as the score could have been even worse for the home side. Moreover, Kevin de Bruyne once again unleashed himself like anything, scoring a 24-minute hat-trick and ending the game with four goals to his name. Raheem Sterling added the fifth to round off the score. Though Wolves responded with an equalizer, they were nowhere near making a comeback once City retook the lead. Here are the player ratings for Manchester City.

Manchester City player ratings: Defense

Ederson- 7/10

Keeping the equalizer was out of his hands, however, kept things under control as the game progressed. Two saves and a massive 7 accurate long-balls to his name.

Joao Cancelo- 7/10

Solid at both the ends. Further on attempted three shots and could have even got his name on the score sheet only for smashing into the side netting.

Fernandinho- 5/10

On another occasion where Fernandinho was played at centre-back, and once again the Brazilian struggled. Moreover, difficulties piled upon the captain after he was caught out by the counter for Wolves’ goal. As a result, receives the lowest ratings among any other Manchester City player.

Aymeric Laporte- 7/10

When his centre-back partner failed to cope, Laporte stood the challenge and lead the defence from the front. Won all the duels he contested and chipped in with 3 accurate long-balls as well. A shame that had to come off at the hour mark with a knock.

Oleksandr Zinchenko- 7/10

Solid battle with Chiquinho who had grabbed two assists in his last game. Did well there and contributed well in the attack too.

Midfield

Kevin de Bruyne- 10/10

Anything less than a 10 out of 10 for the Belgian would just be an injustice. De Bruyne went full terminator scoring 4 past helpless Wolves, and even hit the cross-bar. Furthermore, his every pass forward gave the Wolves backline a nightmare. Easily deserves our highest ratings of any Manchester City player.

Rodri- 8/10

Shielded the weak link of the defence Fernandinho well. Moreover, attempted a whopping 11 long balls with a 100% success rate. Outclassed every Wolves player in the air as well as won all his aerial duels.

Ilkay Gundogan- 7/10

A decent game from the German as he let his compatriot Rodri take the center stage who was in a brilliant form.

Attack

Raheem Sterling- 8/10

2 shots, 1 goal, 3 chances created and an assist. A complete performance from the winger who grew more into the game as it progressed.

Bernardo Silva- 7/10

Started as the number-9 and proved to be a menace for the Wolves player. Kept roaming between the lines and created a maximum attacking threat. As a result, ended the game with an assist for De Bruyne’s opener.

Phil Foden- 8/10

Wolves defenders had no clue how to deal with the 21-year-old. Moreover, his dazzling feet were too hot to handle for the hosts as Foden finished the game with a 100% dribble success rate, 5 duels won, 2 shots attempted and a chance created.

Substitutes

Nathan Ake- 6/10

Replaced Laporte in the 61st minute. Unexpectedly was thrown into action after Laporte’s injury, but gave a steady performance in defence.

Riyad Mahrez- 6/10

Replaced Fernandinho in the 77th minute. A substitution that was bound to happen. Fernandinho was taken-off for Mahrez who showed some flashes of good footwork.

Jack Grealish- N/A

Replaced Foden in the 81st minute.
