Man City to put US Men’s International on transfer list

Manchester City Colwill

According to reports, Man City are planning a transfer for 28 years old US International Goalkeeper. Zack Steffen joined Man City from Columbus Crew SC in 2019 after a string of good performances in the MLS. Pep Guardiola brought the player to City due to his key trait, which was his ability with the feet. However, reports suggest that the American’s dream transfer to Man City is coming to an end soon.

Zack Steffen’s career in Man City

After the move to Man City he was sent on loan to German club Fortuna Dusseldorf. The performances in Bundesliga made clear the quality of the player with the ball at his feet and his shot-stopping. After his return, in the 2022 season he did not perform convincingly for the Manchester side. A mistake against Liverpool in the 2022 FA Cup Semi-final, costed Zack another loan move to Middlesbrough in the 22/23 campaign. This has been the last appearance of the 28 year old for Man City. And looks as if it will be the last one for Zack at Man City.

The club’s decision to let him go

The US Men’s International has total 21 appearances for the Treble winners. Zack has conceded 16 goals and has kept 8 clean sheets in those appearances. He has won two Premier League titles, and a League Cup with Man City. Zack played as the backup for Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson in his tenure at Man City. The Manchester club plans to not renew Zack’s contract which is expiring in June 2025 and hoping to sell him in the 2024 summer transfer window. According to reports from Football Insider, ‘The 28-year-old has no long-term future at the club after knee injury troubles in recent months.’ However the events unfold at the Etihad, the Pennsylvania born player is expected to be out of Man City until 2025.
