Chelsea signed the French forward Christopher Nkunku from Rb Leipzig this season. He arrived for a staggering amount of £52 million. He even impressed with his performances during the pre season matches of the Blues. The player was expected to shine in the premier league. However, he suffered a knee injury during the pre season. This required a surgery. This was a clear indication that it’s impossible to see Christopher Nkunku returning before the start of Chelsea’s premier league campaign.

When the injury was discovered in the initial stages, it looked like the Frenchman is going to miss playing time throughout 2023. Moreover, there were concerns that what replacement will the blues find for him if he’s out for the whole season. But the coach Mauricio Pochettino has a different view on this. He has stated that the 25 year old forward is recovering at a much faster rate than expected. He can return to the pitch by the end of this month.

How will Chelsea benefit from Christopher Nkunku returning to the pitch.

As per 90min, Chelsea will be resuming their premier league campaign post international break on 25th of this month. They are to be welcomed by New Castle United, who are in high spirits after defeating Arsenal 1-0 at St. James Park. Furthermore, they will be playing teams like Manchester United and Everton in the starting of December.

Nkunku’s return would be a much needed addition to team’s forward line who’s currently relying solely upon the experience of Raheem Sterling. Rest others are young players and they still are learning. An experienced player like Nkunku alongside Sterling would provide strength to the Blues forward line. Chelsea are currently 10th in the league with 4 wins and as many losses in 11 games. Let’s hope Nkunku’s return would help them achieve the champions league spot.
