The English giants Liverpool are back in the summer transfer window for young midfielders Jacob Ramsey and Moisés Caicedo. A remarkable final-day loss by a solitary point was all that separated Manchester City and Liverpool last season. Founded in 1892, the English club is not only the giant of Merseyside but is also the giant of the English Premier League. Liverpool has won 19 League titles, 8 FA Cups, a record 9 League Cups, and 16 FA Community Shields. The Reds were battling in four competitions last season, but winning only two and losing two.
The Merseyside giants are currently at 16th position with two draws and one loss in their opening three games. The Reds have played a draw with Fulham and Crystal Palace and lost in Old Trafford to Manchester United. The Reds are currently struggling in the midfield, as Thiago, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Curtis Jones are out because of injury. So, Liverpool’s manager Jurgen Klopp is back in the summer transfer window in search of potential options. Liverpool has made an ‘inquiry’ for Aston Villa’s Ramsey and Brighton’s Caicedo.
Liverpool to sign the deals with Jacob Ramsey and Moises Caicedo.
The 21-year-old Jacob Ramsey is an English midfielder for the Premier League club Aston Villa. Jacob Ramsey is a product of Aston Villa Academy and has also represented England at the youth level. Ramsey began his senior career at Aston Villa in January 2019, but in January 2020, Ramsey arrived for Doncaster Rovers on loan.
Meanwhile, Moisés Caicedo is a 20-year-old Ecuadorian midfielder for Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion. Caicedo debuted for Independiente del Valle on 1 October 2019. In February 2021, Caicedo joined English side Brighton & Hove Albion on a four-and-a-half-year deal. On 31 August 2021, Caicedo joined Belgium’s top flight club Beerschot on loan but made a comeback to the English side in January 2022.
Both the young emerging talent has caught Klopp’s eyes, as the german manager is keen to see to them in their squad. Klopp addressed; “The thing is, it is easy for us to bring a midfielder in but it is not so easy to bring the right midfielder in. There are money reasons and contractual reasons which, most of the time, go hand-in-hand. It’s not that we deny signing a player if we have a problem with injuries. For example but it is a complete different situation to the beginning of the pre-season. When everybody told me we needed a new midfielder and that was about the kind of midfielder. That is a completely different discussion. We didn’t need a different kind of midfielder but if the right midfielder would have been available, we would have gone then as well.”
